I was invited to work on this game through André Leão from Planeta Sinclair blog that gave my contact to David.
From there we started working on different ideas and for a while I wasn't happy with the outcome of the music I had made.
This was until I received by e-mail a gameplay video that used a dubstep style song on the background and then it hit me - What if we use only dubstep music on this game?
I think so far no other ZX Spectrum game has attempted so (please correct me if I'm wrong) and I thought it would be a nice challenge to create these weird synths and effects on the humble speccy.
David was excited for this idea and accepted it right away. Then I proceeded to work on the main theme using as a basis some effects I've been experimenting with on my personal projects and then developed a song out of it.
As for the menu and game over those are remixed versions of two of my favorite songs I used to listen about 10 years ago when dubstep was all the rage online.
After a lot of work, I feel now that this is far from perfect, but considering I'm approaching for the first time such a complex style of music (regarding sound design) with all of the limitations of the AY chip, the result sounds actually doesn't sound that bad.
