Another wonderful project that I was able to work in, together with Lee Stevenson and Richard Langford.
This time, Mr. Hair continues his adventures on another platform game, but this time introduzing some puzzle elements, strategy and time sensitive situations. All these new elements introduced in every game make sure that every Mr. Hair adventure is uniquely different, standing out in the sea of AGD platformers.
I struggled a bit making the theme song for this one, as no ideas came to my mind and I must've made about 5 or 6 sketches. Unfortunately all of them were very disappointing and I just couldn't work with them...
One of those was a little loop that worked really well, but I couldn't think of how to expand it, so I just used it for the menu.
As for the main theme, I went searching around my archive (I have 500+ unfinished songs, that I've been making since 2010, when I started learning how to make music) and found a very nice little tune that I did for fun back in 2019.
Picked it up, converted it to the Spectrum and after a few changes I had something nice, but short. Again I had a block and it was only after watching a TV interview with a composer talking about his process and listening to his songs that I thought - why not use this kind of structure in my song, more akin to composing "pop music"?
That's what I did and from there it was much easier to sketch out the rest and finish it on time.
Fortunately the game and music were very well received, with high praise on Crash magazine and other places alike.
